Aussie BBQ Documentary on BigPond Music
As you know we recently sponsored the Aussie BBQ/SXSW, which saw over 60 Aussie bands hit the USA and Canada to showcase their talent. Stage Mothers, the gurus behind the tour have been working hard alongside BigPond Music to bring you an insightful and action filled documentary into the crazy world of a music tour.
With close to 60 acts on the road this year it was the biggest contingent of Australian acts to tour through North America at the one time, all trying to establish global success stories. The Aussie BBQ 2011 (IDKWBWD) features interviews and behind the scenes from artists such as The Jezabels, Little Red, Cloud Control, Washington, Boy & Bear, Dan Brodie and a whole lot more as they talk you through how it really is on the road.
The Aussie BBQ 2011 (I don’t know why, but we do...) will premiere on BigPond T-Box and TV on the 29th May during ‘The Grit’ Their 100 Music program on Sunday nights.
To coincide with this year’s tour Stage Mothers have also released a digital only compilation record inventively titled “The Aussie BBQ Tour 2011” which is available through Big Pond music and other online outlets, featuring a selection of 15 great Australian tracks by artists including; The Jezabels, Sampology, Blue King Brown, Hungry Kids Of Hungary and Wagons.
Stage Mothers and Sounds Australia have also just played in the UK with 3 Aussie BBQ shows including The Great Escape (Saturday 14th May, @ Digital 12 – 4pm) and Liverpool Sound City (Saturday 22nd May @ Heebie Jeebies) and The Aussie BBQ London (Sunday 15th May @ Cargo 2pm – 11pm) featuring; The Jezabels, Luluc, Seekae, The Touch, Dan Parsons, Little Red, Our Mountain and many more.

The concept behind the annual Medium Vinyl exhibition in Sydney is simple yet effective- artists are asked to create a piece of work using a vinyl record, resulting in a diverse range of works and artists (over 200 of them.)
This year the exhibition kicks off on May 20th and we will be heading along to check it out. Dj's Dean Dixon and Dave Fernandes of HAHA Industries will be playing on the opening night. Works in the past have ranged from street art to portraiture and collage, and we're looking forward to over 200 fresh sets of eyes for this year.
Below are some of the already released works by the first 50 artists, with many more to come when the exhibition opens.
Details: Opening Night May 20th, 6-10pm, Hardware Gallery and Plump Gallery (263 and 240 Enmore Road, Enmore)
Exhibition closes June 11th 2011.

The Happening: Francois K Deep Space Party- New York
We think more people should embrace Monday nights and kick off the week with an all nighter of deep house. Well, maybe not every week, but if you live in New York you should check out Francois K's (aka Francois Kevorkian) regular Monday night gig at least once.
Francois K is a pioneer in the New York clubbing scene, having been around since the 70's and playing in some of the most legendary clubs including Studio 54 and Paradise Garage. He also founded his own record label Wave Music and club night Body and Soul at Club Vinyl, which became one of New York's most revered weekly parties in the 90's.
Now a veteran of the electronic music scene, Francois K plays every Monday at Deep Space (Cielo club) and next week the 16th May, the whole club is his. If you can gain the courage to party on a Monday head along to see a true music legend hit the decks.
Tickets: $12 on the door
Address: Cielo Club, 18 Little West 12th Street, New York, 10014
